ABSTRACT

This chapter explores the underlying approaches and the ways of thinking and acting, which are linked partially directly, partially indirectly to the daily work of a management team. Strongly influenced by alcohol, someone may slip in a hyper exaggerating expression "not bad" — but the state will very soon change to honest hangover. Positive psychology is a branch of psychology that focuses on human well-being, strengths and resources, as well as on their promotion. Happiness and its positive impacts on the results of work have been studied with dairy cows in the 1960s. Appreciative Inquiry is used in many applications for organizational development, personal reviews and team workshops, for instance. Reflection is necessary for learning for individuals and organizations. Reflection can be done alone but in general productive reflection from different perspectives requires interaction with others. Triple-loop learning processes increase common awareness in the management team.
