The collections of Carl Linnaeus and their arrival in Britain

Carl himself, and his father, were both substantial collectors. When Linnaeus became Professor at Uppsala University he set about acquiring animal specimens for the university, and as his reputation grew, more material was sent to him. Some of this material still exists at Uppsala.
