ABSTRACT

I undertake two main tasks in this chapter. First, I apply my fact-sensitive account of ought-assignments to occupants of institutionalised positions in modern democracies by investigating the importance of addressing the dynamic aspects of collective responsibility and by discussing what occupants of institutional positions should be held collectively responsible for. Second, I elaborate on the normative implications of the account of collective responsibility for whether democratic climate governance should be institutionalised at the national or the global level.
