ABSTRACT

The contemporary paradox of the isolated body/connected body is a fruitful issue for creative reflections about current system of connectivity. In this paper we propose to analyze the textile as a communicative interface in contemporary art context through a reading of artistic practice such as Martha Araújo, Lygia Pape, Franz Erhard Walther, Lucy Orta, Tomas Saraceno, Ernesto Neto, Thecla Schiphorst, Francesca Perona, and Nicholas Stedman. It is intended to stand out how ‘habitable textile’ has been emerging as a support for performance and performativity objects, which are conceptually relevant to questioning interpersonal relationships, within spaces as galleries and museums.
