ABSTRACT

In 2002 in response to a growing concern that consumers might become unwiĴing victims of virtual businesses which operate only online and who cannot be traced if they do not honour their obligations, the EU introduced a set of Regulations. These are designed to provide consumers throughout the EU with more comfort when buying goods or services over the Internet. This protection only applies to consumers who visit commercial websites but the requirements which the Regulations set down clearly dictate how any business website must operate.
