ABSTRACT

Sacred cow disease has its breeding ground in a management team whose greatest strength is that it has learned to live with its problems. This type of conscious living in a common lie will have an effect at an unconscious level by paralysing trust and degenerating commitment. Own interest is the most important guiding principle in operating a company. Own interest guides towards the creation of long-term profits. The management team is able to change the situation and to develop measurable goals that lead towards their guiding star. Commitment is seen as a quality of an ideal employee. The higher position an employee has, the more important commitment is regarded. The counter power to the erosion of the morality is ethical egoism, which directs the quest for profit to the benefit of the company, or at least to the common interest of the management team. In psychology, the theory of egoism explains human activity through natural egoism.
