Complexity theory has long been accepted in the world of hard sciences, such as math, biology and even the environmental sciences. Edward Lorenz found from his experiments in the realm of chaos that many things that do not appear to have order actually do. Scientists would have called this noise or randomness, but it is indeed chaos theory or complexity at work. Lorenz’ attractor equation was able to clearly demonstrate order in the world of chaos (Wheatley, 1999).
