ABSTRACT

For the past 15 to 20 years, a new multidiscipline function has emerged in the pharmaceutical arena: compound management. Thanks to the advancement of high-throughput screening, compound management has evolved as a critical component of drug discovery (Gosnell et al., 1997; Chan and Hueso-Rodriguez, 2002). Today, compound management is cited as a central and enabling function in the discovery process, from early phases involving high-throughput screening (HTS) to late-stage lead optimization screening cascades (Archer, 2004; Nie and Hartman, 2005).
