ABSTRACT

Switched-capacitor (SC) networks are normally analyzed by a specialized program. This chapter provides information about how to set up the necessary equations in matrix form. It analyses both time-domain and frequency-domain. The theory used for analysis of SC networks allows the use of only a very few network elements: ideal capacitors, ideal switches, ideal voltage sources, and voltage-controlled voltage sources. The chapter describes an analysis method for general SC networks with equal phase durations. Readers should be able to prepare the necessary matrices and use packages like MATLAB to get solutions of their problems. A program for analysis and design of SC networks with an arbitrary number of phases and arbitrary phase durations, WATSCAD, was also written and is available for SUN workstations and IBM PC equivalents.
