ABSTRACT
A complex ECS system (Excavator-Conveyor-Spreader) has recently been put into operation at the “Majdan III” clay open pit “Potisje” Kanjiza. This conveyor system consists of 6 conveyors, having a belt width of 800 (mm) and total length of about 3 (km). This belt conveyor system incorporates four bucket excavators and a spreader. It has been for the first time in Yugoslavia, and probably in the world, that computer technology is used for monitoring and management of the ECS system at clay open pit, applying GPS (Global Positioning System). The objective of this paper is to present a concept of this monitoring -management system and results obtained during operation of this system.
