ABSTRACT
Modern societies can barely function without some type of computer. Bulky, awkward, slow, and ugly boxes have been replaced by sleek designs that fit in your pocket. For many consumers, there would be no record of their life if not for the zeros and ones of their digital footprint. The discontinuation of support for some operating systems caused a spike in unit sales in 2019, but overall sales trends continue to show a decline. Desktop and laptop computers are still commonplace in business settings, but smartphones are taking the place of personal systems at home.
