ABSTRACT

This conclusion presents some closing thoughts discussed in the preceding chapters of this book. The book analyses from the Teaching for Life research with teachers and schools. The teachers were unsure about how to come to terms with the emotional consequences of experiences. What they asked for was sources of help and guidance, practical, emotional and strategic. The book suggests that there was a need to collate policy, knowledge, resources and practical suggestions in one place. In doing this, there was a need for educationalists and health professionals to come together in order to ensure that the information supplied was accessible, primarily to those in schools who may lack specialist training and a medical/health-related vocabulary. The book addresses many of the recommendations in the research report. It supports those currently experiencing or who may soon experience working with children with life-limiting or life-threatening conditions and their families.
