ABSTRACT

This conclusion presents some closing thoughts on the key concepts discussed in the preceding chapters of this book. The book shows how one ought to respond to people who are homeless. It analyzes the much of the elaborate homelessness service system would be superfluous if people were provided housing, some of the social services and interventions that are effective need to be understood as effective in light of significant societal failings. The book presents administrative data reporting on people's use of government services and how their patterns of service use changed significantly in the twelve months they were securely housed compared to the twelve months they were homeless. The homeless person is a person. Seeing homeless people as such is a helpful start toward reorganising contemporary society so that they have access to the societal resources that enable them to live of their choosing.
