ABSTRACT

This concluding chapter draws out and reflects on some of the main findings and themes to emerge from the various studies and reviews presented in the book. In doing this it uses the contextually shaped and paradoxical nature of governance as set out in the Introduction as a lens through which to view and organise these findings. As well as providing interesting insights into the nature of organisational governance, these studies also throw light on the usefulness of this framework as a way of trying to understand and manage the many challenges boards face, although they were not designed to test it in any systematic way.
