ABSTRACT
This chapter serves as a conclusion to the edited volume. It summarises the chapters and compares their findings on the White Paper’s five scenarios – and additional scenarios – on the future of Europe revealed through the preceding expert contributions. The chapter also discusses the drivers of these scenarios, which help to organise and highlight the contributions made through the analysis in the individual chapters. The conclusions highlight central challenges for the European Union (EU) and provide new and practical insights for studying, understanding and planning European futures to 2050 and beyond.
