ABSTRACT

In my first year of teaching, like many, I worked so many hours – until 10pm most evenings, and both days at the weekend. It was not sustainable. In my second year of teaching, I worked fewer hours – perhaps until 7 or 8 most evenings, and one day at the weekend. Somewhere around my fifth year of teaching, working from 7am to 7pm every day, and at least a half day at the weekend, I started to think: I don’t think I can do this forever.
