ABSTRACT

This conclusion presents some closing thoughts on the key concepts discussed in the preceding chapters of this book. The book explores worldwide democratization and reports that the number of states that have completed a democratic transition, fully consolidating governing institutions into mature, well-functioning democratic governments, has stalled—with a number of notable retrenchments. It discusses that the number of armed conflicts for self-determination continues to decline. The book presents analyse from comprehensive and detailed data on all terrorist incidents since 1970 and conclude that there is no discernible upward or downward trend in worldwide terrorism. It seeks to a set of policy responses that address the problems posed by conflict recurrence and economic recovery. The book offers encouraging conclusions about the impact of transitional justice. It provides an overview of a series of analyses that examine how international aid can support rebuilding the economy in post-conflict societies.
