ABSTRACT

At the beginning of this book, we suggested that you take from it what is most useful for you, and we hope that you have done this. We also suggested that by the end of the book, both the challenges and opportunities reentry offers you would be clear to you, and we hope that they are. In the introduction we also defined intercultural reentry for you. In case you can’t recall what we said, here is our definition for you again: reentry is the process of adjusting to life at home, after a significant intercultural experience in a host culture different from the home culture. Reentry includes the process of reflecting on and making sense of those intercultural interactions, and of incorporating those experiences into your life back home, your understanding of yourself, and what you envision for your future.
