ABSTRACT

The conclusion summarizes and further reflects on themes developed in the book, and argues for the importance of continued investigation into the relationship between automotive culture and music as intertwined drivers of identity, the overlapping aesthetic strategies and synergistic influences of the automotive and music industries, and their combined role in helping to delineate human relationships with machines. This chapter also touches on the radical changes the automotive industry is currently experiencing and what that may mean for music. At present, the two industries are intimately connected and have mutually influenced each other in a variety of ways that have, in turn, acted as influential agents in human identity construction.
