ABSTRACT

This conclusion presents some closing thoughts on the concepts covered in this book. The book discusses on sexual constitution of political authority that has discursive relationship between political authority and male same-sex desire. Many peoples like Alexander, Elagabalus, Timarchus, Hadrian, Edward, James, Dublin scandal, Montagu and Harvey have told their view on same-sex desire. In the pursuit of their contingent political goals, the instigators of the trials felt that they could leverage on the social belief that same-sex desire is a problem for good government. Political authority in contemporary liberal democracies, the relationship between the ruler and the ruled mirrors sexual role-play between tops and bottoms. The top-bottom metaphor for the relationship between the ruler and the ruled provides an answer to the question of same-sex desire in the contemporary sexual constitution of political authority. The construction of male same-sex desire as a problem for good government cannot be reduced to the symbolic meanings associated with being penetrated.
