ABSTRACT

In developing cognitive behaviour therapy-ten (CBT-T), the authors wanted to provide an effective treatment for the great majority of adults with eating disorders, and one that would be widely accessible. CBT-T is a structured application of the effective parts of CBT for eating disorders combined with a firm empathy approach. The evidence allows the authors to conclude that CBT-T can lead to life-changing experiences for their patients. They encourage the reader to implement the approach to treating eating disorders, seeing how it might be implemented by clinicians and services. The authors believe that the development will help more patients to recover and to do so more quickly, and that this faster outcome will allow clinicians and services to reduce waiting times so that more patients can be treated.
