ABSTRACT

In Espoo, Finland, the School as a Service (SaaS) operating model has been established. This innovative concept has been driven by the need for more flexible spaces and operating models to meet the needs for future learning. Rather than defining the school as a building, SaaS defines a school as a set of resources to support learning, in which the role of the learner, of all ages, is central. With Teach to One, teachers are equipped with real-time data on student performance, and students learn only what they are ready for and do not move on to more advanced material until they have mastered a particular skill. Educators respond to those sharing their own journeys with generosity and passion. The Education Foundation captures the learning of schools, colleges and universities in its annual Edtech 50 publication, which shines a spotlight on those pioneering a new future in education through technology.
