ABSTRACT

Some shortcomings of traditional writing feedback boost the development of automated writing feedback system. There are AWE system in America and www.pigai.org in China. However, there is lack of an automated writing feedback system designed especially for business English correspondence, which is one of the main courses of business English majors. The study is based upon several theories of linguistics and psychology, including reliability and validity, interlanguage, error analysis, etc. Moreover, several analytical methods are employed, including text analysis, latent semantic analysis, genre analysis, and qualitative and quantitative analysis, to carry out orderly quantization analysis of local contents of foreign trade terms, syntax characteristics, overall contents of generic structure, and top-level features of foreign business correspondence. This attempt provides the objective and feasible concept of and access to the construction of the business English correspondence intelligent evaluation system. It will undoubtedly play a positive role in improving students’ writing ability and optimizing feedback modes of business English correspondence writing.
