ABSTRACT
An interesting matter that should be highlighted is the scope of beliefs and the dogmatic potential associated with it. It would seem that in the secular culture of Western Europe, with its dominant social discourse of diversity and emphasis on privacy of faith, religious and non-religious beliefs in the public sphere should constitute equal and complementary beliefs. Numerous studies demonstrate that some content is better at preventing uncertainty than other. For example, it is generally held that conservative and religious beliefs allow us to cope better with uncertainty than liberal or atheist ones. Strong belief is a widespread strategy for reducing uncertainty, although the association between uncertainty and religion is a complicated one. Scholars studying religion have long indicated its various sources, manifestations, and consequences. The stronger the negativization, the greater the sensitivity to conflict, and by the same token the stronger the experience of uncertainty.
