ABSTRACT

Corporate strategy is a market-led concept affected by product-market considerations and directed at the achievement of competitive advantage. The chapter analyses the each of the key Human Resource Management (HRM) activities of 246 Transnational Corporation (TNC) subsidiaries located in the ASEAN region using path analysis. The model to be used assesses the contribution of the various HRM inputs to achieving a successful HR strategy. The aim of an organisation development strategy should be to ensure that an effective organisation is maintained which will respond appropriately to changes in its internal and external environment and make the best use of the individual and collective capacities of its members. A human resource development strategy is concerned with the longer term programmes needed by an organisation to improve operational performance at all levels, in accordance with the additional demands which the business strategy will place on people in the future.
