ABSTRACT
One of the blessings conferred on society by statisticians is a numerical way of measuring correlation, such as is alleged to exist for example between redness of hair and fieriness of temper. This measure, called the correlation coefficient, is a useful tool when properly used, but so are razor blades and guns.
