ABSTRACT
In reporting the outcome of any laboratory measurements, it is incumbent upon the experimenter to report not only the results of his measurements, but also the accuracy with which they were made or, more appropriately, the confidence with which they are held to be valid. Consequently, it is important that the experimentalist be aware of the various sources of error in his work and able to assess their significance. The mathematical framework for this assessment is the science of statistics.
