ABSTRACT

Bangladesh established the first International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) in 2010 under the International Crimes (Tribunals) Act 1973 to challenge the culture of impunity by detaining, prosecuting, and punishing “persons for genocide, crimes against humanity, war crimes and other crimes under international law”. 1 Concerns that a justice process initiated through the ICT Act “may not meet international fair trial standards” were raised on the eve of the establishment of the Tribunal. 2
