The Crop Calendar was an endeavour to map the agricultural activities carried out in various seasons throughout the year in each block of a district. The objective of preparing the Crop Calendar was to provide administrators and decision-makers a tool for planning a wide variety of development activities; it is meant to be an instrument of both analysis and planning. The aim of the data bank and the map is to make the Crop Calendar more meaningful and the planning exercise accurate. A large number of departments could utilise the Crop Calendar for planning development schemes and their implementation. Interventions in agricultural sector usually prove to be interventions in the entire economy of a particular region; the contrary is also true. In sum, the Crop Calendar is a tool for planning and analysis based on quantitative data and confirmed information.
