ABSTRACT
The duel in Russian classical literature still has an influence on Russian cultural output today, as indicated by the producer of the 2016 movie The Duelist. This chapter conducts a detailed analysis of this film, including the portrayal of hero and villain, women and men, fighting, drinking, and attitudes to both sex and death.
