C ultural psychology has made substantial progress in the past two decades. The body of research accumulated over the period was taken stock of in the rst handbook for the eld (Kitayama & Cohen, 2007). Moreover, two comprehensive textbooks are now available (Chiu & Hong, 2006; Heine, 2008). There are numerous monographs and edited volumes on culture (Benson, 2001; Cole, 1996; Mahalingam, 2006; Matsumoto, 2001; Nisbett, 2003; Nisbett & Cohen, 1996; Schaller & Crandall, 2004; Shweder, 2003; Sperber, 1996).
