ABSTRACT

Important change in Czech transport policy could be based only on the substantial change of transport law oriented towards full harmonisation with Community law. As to the infrastructure, there are two main problem areas: the first concerns the trans-European network passing the Czech Republic and the second concerns the regional and local network - for the pan-European level, the secondary network. The possibilities to finance the construction of stretches of trans-European corridors using money from the state budget and cofinancing from Instrument for Structural Policies Pre-accession funds could shorten the period of reconstruction. Raw and energy-intensive types of the development of the national economy were reflected in the structure of goods transported. One of the anticipated preconditions for such assistance is to accept acquis in transport. Therefore, the first efforts of the present government were directed towards full harmonisation of Czech transport law with the EC law.
