ABSTRACT

Dalfi composed this stanza about Sir Bertram de la Tor and sent it to him through his joglar, Mauret, during the period when Bertram had given up on valor and generosity: 1 Mauret, Bertran has given up (As rich and powerful as he is) On valor, for which he was once so honored, And on traveling into other countries. Instead he stays at la Tor 5 Raising falcons and hawks And thinks he is celebrating Easter or Christmas When he has twenty people gathered in his home.
