ABSTRACT
Thomas Dale, extract from An Epistle to Alexander Pope, Esq; From South Carolina (1737), pp. 5–8. A. Warren in an article, ‘To Mr. Pope: Epistles from America’, PMLA, xlviii (1933), 63–7, says that this pamphlet is listed in the Gentleman's Magazine for August 1731. I have been unable to find such an entry, and therefore adopt the date, 1737, from the title page of the British Museum copy.
