The Death Penalty at the Federal Level, in the Military, and Globally

T H E United States has 33 separate death penalty systems. Thirty-one states have a death penalty system, as do the federal government and the military. No two systems are exactly alike. In this chapter, the death penalty systems of the federal government and the military are examined. Also explored is the international context in which the death penalty in the United States exists.
