ABSTRACT

Lawrence Kohlberg presents a six-stage process in which moral development of the individual evolves. The development of the individual's social conscience is integrated in the decision-making process to determine what is right or wrong. Therefore, what is right drives the decision-making process and violating laws can demonstrate to the government why those laws are not the correct course of action for society. The Heinz dilemma is an ethical dilemma which can facilitate the determination of which stage an individual is at based on Kohlberg's stages of moral development. An individual can use influence in an ethical manner if he/she explains the rationale behind the use of the persuasion to have the other individuals change their decision-making processes. Explicit bias is when there is a conscious effort to create bias in the decision-making process.
