ABSTRACT
Large scale imagery is a method of providing the world, theatre, and battle-point matrices with terrain information. This implies that fundamental changes in military training would be necessary if military services adopt the concept. This chapter addresses the milestones in the emergence of that industry, before attention is diverted to contemplating the role played by the diverse kinds of industrial organisations in the affirmation of the contemporary defence-electronics industry. Government policy, in effect, was deliberately applied to the task of socialising the risk of semiconductor development and production, irrespective of the stature of the enterprises actually undertaking the contracts. This interpretation is confirmed by Nelson. Government is given to understand that the remedy for such dire outcomes is in its hands. In short, the Department of Defense should monitor process technology and ensure that it keeps pace with product technology.
