ABSTRACT

TWI realized that though the three “J” programs increased productivity significantly, they did not address all production problems. Though most companies face similar challenges and problems, companies have cultures that are as individual and unique as the people they employ. For example, the extent to which supervisors are involved with costing varies greatly from one company to the next. (A costing problem is the first sample problem Product Development [PD] deals with in Session I.) A costing problem might cause a difficulty in one company, whereas it might have no effect in another. What TWI needed was to develop a program that addressed everything that the “J” programs did not.
