ABSTRACT

As the developing of zoom lens optical design theory and the perfect of manufacturing process technology, zoom optical system has been widely used in many fields, such as space exploration (Zhou et  al. 2007), military surveillance (Wang et al. 2010), scientific research (Chen & Wang 2003) and security monitoring (Luo et al. 2013). Compared with the fixed focal length optical system, dual Field-Of-View (FOV) zoom optical system can search the target in the Wide Field-OfView (WFOV) and locate the target in the Narrow Field-Of-View (NFOV). Compare with the continuous zoom optical system, dual FOV zoom optical system has the advantages of simple opto-mechanical structure, small size, light weight and low cost. Therefore, considering the performance and cost, dual FOV zoom optical system is still the best choice in many practical projects.
