ABSTRACT
Frank Barkow describes the work of his firm Barkow Leibinger in designing factories as campus and city and using design as a way to accommodate the goals of the manufacturer, but also those of the worker. Noting the difference in German and American focus on amenities and attention to worker comfort, he describes the new industrial workplace.
