ABSTRACT

Ku and her colleagues have focused their research and intervention energies towards creating equitable opportunities for science achievement for linguistically-diverse students. In this chapter, Ku and her team argue that expository writing in science can be supported and developed through rich literacy-in-science-infused interventions that aim to build students’ understanding of scientific processes and reasoning while providing rich narrative contexts for connecting everyday science experiences to canonical science concepts.
