ABSTRACT

Organisational leadership is about the leader’s role in building and maintaining an effective team of people. In balancing unity and diversity, leaders that lean over to the side of unity can be said to have an integrative leadership style. Strategic leadership deals with the role of leaders in the process of formulating and implementing strategy. As leadership is about getting people to move in a certain direction, setting the strategic course of action is a crucial aspect of a leader’s role. Leaders that give more priority to exploration have an entrepreneurial leadership style, as they see themselves as the driver of the entrepreneurial process within the organisation. For leaders in a project setting, the need for agility is even higher. Every project manager knows that each project is essentially unique. Only when project managers master flexibility, adaptability and responsiveness will they be truly agile and ready to deal with the unpredictable nature of project work.
