ABSTRACT

In order to create a game for yourself (or work with others to create one on your behalf) I recommend further developing the initial concept specification (created in the final activity of Chapter 6) to produce a more detailed functional specification that will define more exactly what your game is and enable you to share your vision with others. This allows you to describe exactly what you want the game to do and how you want users to interact with it. In the later part of this chapter I look at the sort of information you might want to include in this functional specification (again drawing on the Time Capsule example used previously). I also introduce some more of my own research to offer some advice on how to structure games for learning and how to create engagement in games.
