ABSTRACT

This chapter focuses on the development of a social venture sustainability model. Instead of using the term “business model,” as is common in commercial entrepreneurship, the chapter uses the construct social venture sustainability model or social business model to differentiate commercial ventures from social ventures. The chapter is divided into four sections. The first section discusses the concept of business model as defined and applied in commercial entrepreneurship. The second describes the components of a business model. The third focuses on the concept of social venture sustainability model. The fourth presents strategies for building social venture sustainability models.
