ABSTRACT

This chapter explores a variety of issues involved in linking learning to the strategy of the organization and includes current trends, processes, and successes. It focuses on how to develop a learning and talent strategy to create value, drive results for the organization, and prepare for the forces influencing organizations. With learning and development for current and future employees always in mind, a Campus partnership team is working closely with leading commercial, academic organizations, the government, and skill agencies to offer exciting new opportunities. Human capital strategy is helpful to examine the typical human capital strategy and then update that strategy to address the forces that are influencing organizations today. The level of Chief Learning Officer (CLO) participation in the corporate strategic planning process has been increasing, and there is evidence to suggest that the CLO's role as strategic planner can be increasingly important in the years to come.
