ABSTRACT

This chapter examines the effect of rapid time to market and explores two important techniques for time management to be used. They were Project Estimating and Resource Tracking (PERT) charting, and milestone development. PERT charting tends to be most effective on larger projects with multiple dependencies. PERT charts require significant updating to remain an effective tool since many changes occur after the start of the project. One helpful technique for managing the time aspects of the team meeting, and the project schedule is to define, at the earliest meetings the expectations of the project manager around communication. The teamwork concept reduced inhibitions and developed the trust needed for team members to share their ideas and contributions. When the PERT chart is developed each team member commits to developing his piece of the project within a certain time frame, given that the bubbles before them supply the needed information or activities as defined in the doneness criteria.
