ABSTRACT
It is recommended that certain topics are discussed with women prior to their leaving the hospital following their birth. Different Trust policies may vary but these topics could include the following:
Baby car safety.
Registering the birth – usually required within 42 days of the birth.
Contraception.
Emergency contact numbers.
Infant feeding.
Follow-up visits, including a six-week appointment (usually with the GP).
Signs of deviations from normal.
Prevention of SIDS.
