ABSTRACT
Below is a selection of letters I wrote to Jasmine Ulmer at some point while I was writing some now long-deleted version of this book. Perhaps this is in keeping with the tradition of when they started issuing alternate takes of jazz songs on the reissue CD versions of classic albums. Digging through the archives, I discovered that these were apparently some of the first takes of things that would end up here. I was nicely encouraged by Jasmine to include them here for the sake of showing how thought can evolve, and that there’s often—if not always—a lived experience underneath our philosophizing.
