ABSTRACT

Sex discrimination, discrimination based on an individual’s sex, is the second largest source of Title VII violations after race discrimination. In fiscal year 2011, discrimination on the basis of sex accounted for almost 39.7 percent of all Title VII charges handled by the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC).1 Because women are entering the workforce in increasing numbers, and because the vast majority of sex discrimination complaints are filed by females, special attention should be given to employment practices that can potentially discriminate on the basis of sex.
