ABSTRACT
Oil palm production is one of the most important agricultural activities in South American and Central American countries, including Brazil, Colombia, Costa Rica and Ecuador, and constitutes a key alternative for generating employment, income and foreign currency. It is also considered strategic for national economies. In Asia (India) and Africa (Ghana, Cameroon and Nigeria), oil palm is one of the most important oil-producing crops.
